Klotz Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 tonight i was riding back home from the trails...and i came around the corner and hammered on the throtle...when i let go it just kept going.....i stuggled to pull the teather cord...i pulled it just as i hit a small ditch and fell off...i got back on put it in gear and started it expexting it to rev to the moon when it was fine and i drove home...what could have happened thanks shane Quote
94BansheeRider Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Have you removed the TORS units? Was it cold outside? Banshees are notorious for sticky throttles after TORS removal. Mine usually only stuck when the carbs got wet and/or when its cold outside. I have since installed new 28PWKs, and have had no problems. Could be as simple as a lubing the cable also Peace Quote
Klotz Posted December 12, 2003 Author Report Posted December 12, 2003 yes it was about 2 below 0 out side.....and what is the tors unit.....??? thanks shane Quote
boonman Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 TORS=Throttle OverRide System. It is designed to cut the motor off in the event of a stuck throttle. Stock banshee carbs are notorious for sticking, and it is a debateable theory as to why they do what they do. Mine stick in the cold wet weather... And do funny things to boot!!!! Quote
Klotz Posted December 12, 2003 Author Report Posted December 12, 2003 well i dont know if this helps...but i know that i rode this banshee before i owned it.....and it quit on me and the owner said somethign about the carbs sticking or somthign so he disconected somethign so that wouldnt happen any more...i was tlaking to my brother who rides with this guy and he said that when the other guy owned it the throttle stuck on him too.....and its only in the cold.......and i dont think i like that switch cuz when it was on for him it seemed to happen at the worst time...that it would shut off....so what should i do...?? thanks agian shane Quote
94BansheeRider Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 When I had that problem, I would turn the gas off and work the thumb throttle back and forth for about 5 minutes. I can't say this will help if it's 2 below zero though That's pretty frickin cold to be riding in. Quote
Klotz Posted December 13, 2003 Author Report Posted December 13, 2003 yeah i know....its so much fun thugh...we have huge cricks that lead to the lake and we stud our tires....ne ways does ne one else have any other sugestions thanks Quote
wesw Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 you might try this. remove the carbs and the slides. i took some scotch brite sponge whatever and cleaned the bore and the slides up some. you would think there might not be something a little ruff in there but afterwards i havent had any problems with mine. knock on wood Quote
