It depends, it usually works out to about every 10 hours.  I only ride in the sand, so yeah im on it pretty hard most of the time.

also.. if you looking at cost... if you do oil changes  by the 5-10 hour ride time mark and if you use expensive premium oil..  youl spend just as much in oil changes on the 4poke as you would re doing a top end on a 2 poke....

But you arent buying 2 stroke oil and premium oil isnt cheap there either.  i buy redline 4 stroke motor oil on amazon no its not cheap but it doesnt use a ton either.  I think a lot of guys run 15-40 diesel oil, so there is that option too

Keep an eye on the timing chain adjusters too...all fun and games till you skip a tooth on the chain and your valves smack the piston boogering up the valves, seats, head and piston. Rebuilds are WAY more expensive and many times require a machine shop for head /valve recut

This. I run Rotella. In the banshee, 450, and street bike.

Every ride or 2 I'll change it.
