what i'ed do it het like some 1/4 plywood and put it on the sky so they dont get towrn up but i dont know if the sand will mess up all the things under the tracks

Talk to some of the guys that drag race sleds on asphalt and grass. They sell ski kits with wheels and also they have special slides in the rear that dont wear out as fast. When dragging in the grass they usually just hose them down and go or soap the slides up to keep the track from getting hot and breaking due to friction - JT

we used to have a drag snowmobile and we had teflon coated slides. sprayed something on the track too i think it was silicone spray or something but youd have to use dry lubricants that will stand up to the sand i suppose. snowboards would work for skis if you modify em. or even skateboards ive used them on quads for skis before.

yea i was thinking of modifieing two cheap snow boards..or buy a big ass peice of fiberglass and cutting it up to my liking to make two nice custom skies,i would like to hve wide skies to reduce the chance of flipping at high speed's.

thanx for the advice..

You will NEVER keep it cool without some serious modification. I used to run the P.R.O. circuit. (Grass drags) After ever run, we had to come back, unhook the quick disconnect and pump water through the motor that then went through coils in a cooler with ice and water in it. You see, on a sled, there are heat exchangers. Not a radiator like is needed for summer situations where you need to get rid of the heat. The heat exchangers on a sled are located under the running boards, and inside the tunnel. It depends what brand you have that will depict where the exchangers are....

LOL boon I was thinking the same thing I know that after one run down on the east coast in the grass drags and the sled is way hot so I cant imagine a sled lasting long out on the west coast in a dune and I dont think the hyfax would last ether it would melt from the heat and friction from sand all around mess I wouldnt bother with the amount of money your going to have to spend to get a couple runs it wont be worth it. Sleds are made for snow they need it to cool the track system and cool the heat exchangers shit my sled overheats somtimes in the winter on trails if I dont ride through some powder once in a while B)

Its possible to get it a snowmobile in the sand, but it would be a pain in the ass and huge dent in the wallet. The biggest problem would be your hyfaxes (sp) i have been out on ice, in negative degree weather and have the hyfaxes melt still, they need constant lube (water, snow) or else they will melt faster then you could put the new ones on. And boon is right to keep a sled cool in summer is almost impossible. Now its noy to say you couldnt set somthing up, I have talked to a couple of people about doin it and you would have to plumb the whole sled up track and engine, just to keep it running, I have seen four wheelers with snowmobile engines in them, not sure what cooling system they run, but if you can get it to work, it would be insane, best of luck.
