slag_350300 Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 If I'm reading this correct the cylinders have been bored 20 over correct ? 64.5 is the size piston I need to order ? If I'm wrong please by all means let me know I just want to make sure I'm ordering the right parts. The cylinder walls look fine. Normal scratches nothing huge I plan on just honing them out and getting new top end and slap it back together. Pics below Thanks guys Quote
slag_350300 Posted August 28, 2015 Author Report Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) I can't seem to upload photos using my cell phone. Also won't let me edit my original post. Disregard the 20 over stuff I wasn't measuring correctly. Anyway I used a digital set of calipers to determine sizes I measured on the top of the piston near where the rings seat Piston 1 - 64.12 Piston 2 - 64.14 Cylinder 1- 64.63 Cylinder 2- 64.67 I want to triple check and make sure I'm ordering the correct piston Edited August 28, 2015 by slag_350300 Quote
slag_350300 Posted August 29, 2015 Author Report Posted August 29, 2015 I get several different measurements depending on where I place the calipers. What is the correct way to measure them using calipers? Now that I stuck the calipers over the top of the piston so the top of th piston bottoms out on the bottom side of calipers is measured 64.45 Quote
special06shee Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 Id take cylinder to a good shop and have them put a bore gauge on them to ensure there round. Chances are, if your replacing pistons, the cylinders need attention too. Plus, according to your measurements, you got GOOBS of piston to wall slop. 1 Quote
dirtmunkee Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 Yeah i think the pistons i just dropped off at shop for honing think it said they were like .003 wall clearance for the bore if i remember correctly may be wrong (left paperwork in box with them). But if your measuring well and getting different around cylinder id say they are out of round. Have a lot of hours on it? Id just spend the few bucks on a shop to take them to the next true round bore and let you know what you need. Bore and hone cheap..kaboom expensive... Quote
slag_350300 Posted August 29, 2015 Author Report Posted August 29, 2015 That's makes sense I didn't even think about that. Thanks slot for the info guys. Looks like my port job will be coming a lot sooner than planned. I think I will just send everything off to fast and have him check over the cylinders and do a port job while I'm at it. Thanks for the reply fellas Quote
