20banshee00 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Just got a new 4 mil banshee and I was hauling ass in 5th gear and the plug got fouled. I replaced the plugs and it won't start. It started first kick every other time. I put both chokes on and held the gas down and it will start run for a couple of seconds and die. It backfires sometimes too. It doesn't sound right when you kick it or it runs. Thanks for any help. Fresh rebuilt carbs and motor Quote
oldskool Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Did you do a leakdown test on rebuilt motor? Either way you need to do this next. Quote
sleeper06 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Air leak / hole in piston. Compression test it , leak test it with proper tools not carb cleaner. Establish a mechanically sound motor then deal with the fouling plug Quote
sheerider1026 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 Hmm. Sounds like flywheel key? But as stated. Check the obvious. Compression test first Quote
20banshee00 Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 Passed leak down test Quote
BUILDER Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 If it backfires and does not sound right when it does start then check your flywheel as stated a couple of times above also need to do a compression test and make sure that is good. You dont usually foul plugs wide open in 5th gear! Quote
sheerider11 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 I had a electrical issue with my bike when my harness melted to the stinger. Buck would spit and sputter and back fire a lot. Quote
20banshee00 Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 It won't start now. It kicks back almost everytime and it'll blow smoke out every once and a while Quote
sheerider11 Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Did you check your flywheel? Quote
BUILDER Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 YOU HAVE A TIMING ISSUE CHECK YOUR FLYWHEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
20banshee00 Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 Will do! Just making sure before I tear in. Thanks for the help Quote
BUILDER Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Not really tearing into it to check the flywheel key. Make sure you do not try and pull the flywheel unless you have the right puller! Do not put a jaw puller on it and try to get it off you will ruin it!!! Quote
20banshee00 Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 I know but just saving time. Thanks for all the help! Quote
20banshee00 Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 Thanks guys! Sheared my flywheel key. New one is on the way Quote
