dailydrifter
Currently running FMF SST pipes with powercore 2 silencers, VF4 reeds, K&N pod filters with no air box, bored over (not sure how far), Wiseco pistons, Elevation is around 800', temperature range from 62-90. 290 main, 25 pilot and clip is in the 4th position from the bottom. I only had this banshee for a short time before completely tearing it down and refreshing everything but I was able to get a couple good rides in before I started the restoration and I noticed that the mid range is very weak and then comes on very strong on the top end compared to the mid range. Also before I took it for a ride I put fresh plugs in and pulled them afterwards and noticed that they were blackish and wet looking. If the consensus is that my jetting needs to be changed id like to do it now while I still have the carbs off. Ive already cleaned the carbs inside and out, repacked the heavily saturated packing in the silencers, and switched from VF2 to VF4 because the reeds for the VF2 were very slightly cracked in a couple spots and when held up to the light there were small gaps in a couple of them where day light would shine through. oldskool
From what I have seen on this site, your pipes like a 30 pilot.
bigweav81
^^^ this, vf4 reeds need a bigger pilot as well. ditch the 25, and try a 30. may want to read how to do a proper plug chop as well.
dailydrifter
Thanks for the replies. I'll try a 30 and do a plug chop when I get it all back together. Would the damaged reeds I was previously using cause the wet plugs?
bigweav81
ive never done a plug chop with damaged reeds not sure, it would definitely make it run like hammered shit. make sure you do your plug chop properly.
