Case gasket match

Not worth the gains ( if even measurable).

Is that about the welding, or the whole gasket matching idea in general?

I did that to my case. Matched them to the thickness of my cylinders. I had about 4mm wide of material. I couldn't get the base gasket to seal unless I applied yamabond to both sides of the gasket. Its not worth the risk of an air leak.
