kennygene
Checking the VIN only tells you if it has been reported. It could easily be reported at any time after without your knowing.
special06shee
Call DCNR...run the VIN with them...if there is no lean or is not stolen they will check the title origin. ..if it was never titled PA then it will be open . If it was titled in PA before they will send a certfied letter to last known name and address on title...if they do not get a response in 14 days they clear the title and you can have one put right in your name. ...ive done it before. ..my wifes bike was a 1995 and was titled then but never again till 2010 when we bought it...14 days later we had a title in our name...THIS! WINDYCITYJOHN400
Better idea, strip the bike before taking it to the local PD for a quick check. That way if it is stolen, they are just taking the frame. Not your whole bike. Then if shit hits the fan, you can just buy a frame and title instead of another entire bike. THIS ^^^^^^ Is the BEST way to go. Good the hear this advice is sinking in.

Starwriter
What I they mail the original titled owner or last and they say yeah it was stolen. Are you SOL? Yep, that's why you strip it to a bare frame. "I bought the frame at a garage sale. I don't remember exactly where. I went to a lot of sales that day." m671054
On the title is frame and engine number. How do you know the cases are not attached to a vin that's stolen?
