pitting on t5 silencers

What is the best way to get pitting out of the t5 silencers.

If it's deep might just replace them. If not I use steel wool for finer work. If it's rougher use sand paper then use steel wool or a finer grit paper. After most pitting is removed I then use a high speed buffing wheel with coarse compound then work to finer compound.
