sugarshack81
Here is a picture I drew to see if anyone can help me figure this out. When I disconnect from my harness and run a test light on the orange wire coming from the cdi I get voltage because it light up. When I connect the harness I loose voltage on the orange wire. So here is what I tried. I bypassed the orange wire on the harness and hooked it directly up. The rest of the harness is hooked up normally. I added extra ground from coil to motor and still not getting spark. But as soon as i unhook the harness the test light will light up again on the orange wire. This really sucks. Feel like I'm getting close. I tried a second wiring harness before attempting this. Its like the where the harness connects to the output of the cdi it shorts it out maybe? GleasmJA
when everything is hooked up normal can you get power at the ignition coil plug orange, when removed from the coil?
sugarshack81
No. That's why I tried a new wire. Its weird I get power right out of the cdi just not while the harness is hooked up Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
wayne_smith97
Have you checked continuity in the orange wire across the harness
sugarshack81
Yes have continuity. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
wayne_smith97
Yes have continuity. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk I'm having a similar issue. I am going to check my orange wire tomorrow. We might be fighting the same battle as I have continuity also just no fire. Three cdi's two coils and a stator and flywheel. sugarshack81
Correct me if I'm wrong but can I connect the black/red wire from cdi to ground wire and the black/white to new on/off switch then ground the switch, connect black ground wire to - on coil and orange wire to + on coil. Should get spark? Just hate to cut all wires coming out of the cdi if this won't work. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
sugarshack81
I'm thinking kill switch or key switch one is causing this. Which I've read other posts saying they went through hell trying to get spark at it ended up being kill switch. Actually I hope that's the problem just want to get this thing running. GleasmJA
disconnect the switches one at a time and jump the pins.... see if you get spark. If so, problem with that switch.

sugarshack81
Still not getting spark. Using a cheap test light. Lights up on orange wire from cdi when I kick it over and when the harness is connected it doesn't light up on the orange wire. Tried jumping terminals on the kill a key switch and still no luck. sugarshack81
My banshee finally started. I built a new harness and it works great. When I get time I'm going to post everything I did and how I made the new harness. I learned a lot and hopefully I can help someone else out. I appreciate everyone that commented and gave me suggestions. So I'll post later, Right now I'm putting everything back together so I can go ride today.
