BLOODRAGE Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Hey guys just a question does a 421 cub need straight cut gears or can it run without em. Quote
TKJ421 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 It can run without them, straight cut gears are for high hp applications. I run them in mine but I'm also making over 100hp. They help keep your crank from walking. So you don't "need" them as they are pretty expensive but it also doesn't hurt to run them for reliability. They do make a difference...just my 2 cents. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
BLOODRAGE Posted January 21, 2014 Author Report Posted January 21, 2014 The thing is. I do have the straight cuts and I have a 10mil cheetah as of now but would rather have something a little Easier on gas. So I figured I'd part out the 10mil cheetah for something a little smaller Quote
TKJ421 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I know the feeling the shee likes to drink! But no you don't need them it all really depends on what your planning on using it for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
BLOODRAGE Posted January 21, 2014 Author Report Posted January 21, 2014 Mostly just ripping around. No drag racing here, love the power on the 10mill but its gotta go Quote
TKJ421 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Haha ya I do the same I just like free riding and layin the smack down on the occasional challenger (we don't have dunes around here) , I'm a hp nut so I make her as fast as possible. But I ran standard gears in my 4mill cheetah for awhile and never had a problem I didn't change to straight cut until this lasts rebuild. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

TKJ421 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I didn't have the shearer bb I ran the sb just because I trail it to but I don't see a problem with it at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

dave5.0 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Big bores are a lil much on a 421 I think. Be better off with small bores. Quote
