lock up clutch will not release

Just getting into drag racing. Bought a 421 with a lock up clutch. With the bike not running  and in gear I pull in the clutch lever and the clutch will not release to allow the bike to roll. Is this normal or just an adjustment issue?

 may need adjustment  or it  could just be thick oil and the plates are stuck together , it should get better after its warmed up. pretty normal .

What weight of oil should be run in it?  Does anybody run ATF fluid in them?

What your describing really doesn't have anything to so with the lockup. If the pressure plate is adjusted properly the lockup will not be turning with the clutch pulled.

 

How hard did you push the bike? It may take a bit to get it broke loose, then should roll freely.

They have two different stiffness springs in the clutch. Could they be too stiff?

That could cause issues. Make sure the arrow is lined on the case and the cable is right enough.

I have the arrows line up on the case. I also put a new clutch cable on but neither seem to  make any improvement...

does the bike have a see through lens? if so can you see the the pressure plate move outward when you pull the clutch? if its very cold the oil sometimes wont let the clutch slip until its warmed a bit.
