gash503 Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Whats up guys, I'm new to HQ and I've done a lot of reading on past threads but cant find the information for the Duner build im going for, So hopefully some of you guys can shoot me some advice and point me in the right direction. I bought a 97' banshee in May, Now that the shitty weather is rolling in here at the Oregon dunes its time for me to rebuild. The bike is mostly stock except for FMF pipes, K&N filter, I just bought a + 4 swinger to throw on it. I'm looking to build a nice all around play bike, I dont drag or race often. I mostly stick to the tree shots and trails Heres what I had in mind, Tell me what you guys think. Cool Head w/ 21 cc domes V force 4 reeds Get my stock crank Trued and Welded New Wiseco Piston kit Play/Dune Port Drop a tooth in the front sprocket Any advice or past experience with simular builds is greatly appriciated! BUILDER Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 If you are going to spend the money to port the motor I agree with Jesse. Get a 4 mill crank and have your cylinders ported by Redline and you will have a great play/dune bike that will have more than enough power for everything you want to do and still be able to ling up and drag race with the majority of the bikes you are going to run into out on the sand. Sandking Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 I would upgrade a arms and front shocks then do the motor. Quote

The only reason to drop a tooth on the front sprocket is because there are 15 teeth on the sprocket you have now. 14/41 is stock gearing. If bottom-end is what you're looking for, then stop right now, sell your Banshee to someone who can handle it and buy a 4 Choke... Quote

Ya bro your right, I'll stop now, come buy it from me haha! the dude before me was running 15/41, that's why I'm dropping a tooth. 1 Quote
Parkbenchbum Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 I had my banshee built by Cam last spring at redline. I had fmf sst and k&n pods before it was rebuilt. He ported it and custom cut the domes and welded my stock crank and advanced the timing +4 and got 67hp 39.5 tq on the dyno. Its a fun duner and runs on 50\50 race & pump fuel. Quote

Parkbenchbum Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 It was around $1400 but he rebuilt the crank and replaced pistons all seals and port matched the cases and included slightly used v force 3 reeds. He also dynoed with cpi pipes and gained 3 hp. Quote
