Slayar71 Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 I recently picked up a bone stock 2000 banshee. it needs some tlc but overall its pretty solid. I know the carbs arent adjusted right. the guy i bought it from brang it down from michigan but didnt know where it was jetting for. im guessing since it spent years up there, its jetted for michigan. it cant idle for crap so i tried adjusted the pilot air screws to factory 2 turns out. it would not idle at all and was a pain to start. i had to take it down to 1 turn out and it idles okay not the best. i cannot do alot of work as far as tearing it apart right now. just wanted some ideas. no mods even down to foam filter. charlie__walsh Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Just dealing with the same problem , is the tors carberator still on them..,? If not your idle screws might need to be filed down... So that they hit the slider.... And make sure ure sliders aren't switched... They should close all the way Quote

charlie__walsh Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Did you check the stuff ? The idle screw should be fine at 1.5 to 2 turns... It's something else? Quote

Slayar71 Posted September 27, 2013 Author Report Posted September 27, 2013 i think the guy rebuilt the carbs cuz theres about a 1/4" gap in between the slides. Quote
charlie__walsh Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Well they should hit the bottom... Try switching sliders... That was my Main problem.. It ran really rich and would run extremely high... When I put them in right it started first try and revved and idled perfect... Quote
Slayar71 Posted September 27, 2013 Author Report Posted September 27, 2013 yah that might be my problem Quote
charlie__walsh Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Lol I actually figured out all about it yesterday... Now I'm trying to adjust idle and needles... Quote

Brap_Life Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 If you are turning your air screw in, and it is idling better as you turn it in, your pilot is too lean for you area. You are effectively cutting off airflow as you screw your air screws in. You probably have stock 25 pilots, Its really hard to diagnose a problem with such a small explanation. Does it run alright other than at idle? Would you be able to tell if it truly is running decent on the needle and main jet circuit? Give us some more info on this situation. A carb sync and rejet can do wonders. First things first, get rid of the stock pipes and filters and bump up the stock jets. You shouldn't have to starve it for air to idle unless you have a soiled air filter. Does it idle at 2 turns out on the air screw with the enrichener pulled? (choke) Quote
