cutting piston crowns

is anyone custom cutting piston crowns here? i'm building a 4 mil stroker with wiseco 795 pistons, but the previous owner had the cylinder bases milled 0.030" so i am ending up with the crowns 0.060" above deck with 0.050" base gasket. Seeing as it is easier to cut a piston crown vs. properly cut combustion chambers and the fact that flatter top pistons just plain burn better why not cut the piston crowns? There is alot of material up there, so i guess the question is if anyone has done any playing with this. And if so, what are the practical limits to retain strength and reliability?

I don't deal with exact deck height numbers. I let my builder figure that out. But, with a 4 mill, you want the piston above the deck and have a set of domes cut to get the proper squish clearance. 4 mill divided by 2 equals roughly 2mm above the deck. (.080")

Skimming is one thing but cutting that muxh off is sure to have consequences.

If you changed the dome rise to be flatter then you would need to reshape the dome anyway

That being said, I have some flat top pistons that used to have a crown that I'm currently running in a Twister Sniper motor. Precision Powersports cut the pistons and designed the domes.
