Jgspahn Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Ive got my frame, pipes, swingarm etc powder coated, but now its all covered in finger prints and grease from assembly. What the best thing to use to spray it off and get all the grease and junk to disappear? Is there anything thats NOT powder coat safe? Quote
Vicstuff Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Personally I like purple power mix it how you like, I would say don't use any lacquer or acetone but any degreaser should work fine 1 Quote
Banshee Chad Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Purple power is good, but discolors black plastic and rubber stuff. But I use it full strength. When that dude comes to ur door selling the whip it stuff.. Like they do every couple yrs. Buy as much as u can, that shit cleans everything. I even use it for my hands in the garage. Quote
Bad one ton Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Bleach white. Mix it like it says on the bottle with water and spray down your bike. Then power wash it. It always makes mine look like new. Cuts through the grease very well. You can find it in the detail section of walmart. Comes in a gallon jug. TON! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
rubberneck Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 oil eaters or the castrol degreaser works great when the bike is really greasy. If you just have fingerprints and such, rubbing alcohol on a soft white cloth seems to work well Quote
trickedcarbine Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Foaming glass cleaner(preferably no ammonia in it). It does a bitching job for a fast detail on a moderately clean bike. Then you can really bling it up with other high end detailers if you want show quality. Quote
Dixie normus Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Be careful what u spray on aluminum. Some stuff turns aluminum grey and fucks up polished metal Quote
Jgspahn Posted September 8, 2013 Author Report Posted September 8, 2013 I'm mostly worried about the gloss finish on my powder coating.. Don't want to like fade out. Guy that did it said just use dawn soap and water. Quote
04_blu_shee Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 WD-40 works great on everything to get rid of grease on frame and on chromed pipes 1 Quote
trickedcarbine Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 WD-40 and ultra fine steel wool can make chrome look bitchin! Quote
lastnline75 Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 I like to use Honda polish in a can. It works great for detailing an overall cleaning an will not hurt powdercoat. Quote
