IK, IK this dreaded diagram yet again. but heres what i did, i removed the old wire harness and built my own. idont need my high beam/low, on/off, ignition, throttle switch, tors, brake light, or carb switches.

so pretty much what im left with is the wires from the cdi to the stator, from the cdi to the coil, and the from the stator to my aftermarket headlight (on all the time no on/off) but from what ive read its necessary to have the tor box grounded or it will kill spark?

my quad is a 96 so this diagram is correct. but what i ended up doing is grounding the B/W from the cdi along with grounding the R/B from the cdi to the solid black wire from the cdi. right the solid black is a ground wire correct?

any help would be greatly appreciated

The R/B wire needs to be grounded for it to run. You need to disconnect the B/W wire from ground. Grounding it kills the motor. Yes, solid black is ground. You also need the voltage regulator tapped into your headlight circuit, or you will fry headlights.

The regulator must be grounded. The black ground wire should have a ring terminal attached to 1 of the regulator mounting bolts. The regulator shunts excess current to ground to control charging voltage.

Yep, just those 2 things. Install the regulator and unground the B/W wire.

Glad to be able to help out.

i ended up snippig the wire and soldering in the regulator. i even carried the ground wire from the cdi to the stator. i have it grounded to the frame and i even sanded through the powdercoat to bear metal for the coil but seems i dont have spark. its a new caltric stator and coil... no spark

Well, I feel like you running all these grounds is what's messing you up. The black and white is not grounded right? The key switch is taken out? Did you splice that together?
