JasonsBanshee Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 It’s time for me to paint my cases. One thing is for sure, I don’t want a rattle can paint job. My brother is an automotive painter and I could get the paint from him to do it in automotive paint, but I’m thinking I want to do something a little easier to touch up if I needed to. When I used to build trucks we used to use a product called POR15 on the frame. I’m thinking about using this on the cases. Has anyone done this? If so, what were the results? I’m going black. I’m thinking gloss for the cases. Quote
JasonsBanshee Posted July 22, 2013 Author Report Posted July 22, 2013 What should I expect to pay for powder coating? Never really thought about that since I always do things myself. Quote
Coupelx Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 Some things to consider is that shit is a bitch to remove and most of it isn't UV resistant. Male sure you get the stuff that is or it will look like ass in short order which brings us back to my first point. Quote
fappy'97 Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 Blast it and leave them raw... Less of a headache Quote

As long as I pick one of his 5 colors and get him the part on that colored day he's done bicycle frames for 30 bucks. I asked about a swing arm in black, he told me 25. Quote
JasonsBanshee Posted July 22, 2013 Author Report Posted July 22, 2013 I have always left the cases raw in the past, but for this build the entire bike and every accessory will be black. Quote

I need to look for a place like that here locally. I figure black is a common color. Quote
Nieskes Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 Por15 is meant to be applied over rust, it will have a hard time adhering to aluminum. Quote
possum Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 just spray it black. with a few wet coats of clear. bam Quote
