2001SSTBanshee Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Simple Green can be corrosive to aluminum! DOD testing is good enough for me. http://www.chinook-helicopter.com/maintena...s/cleaners.html There's a lot of aluiminum on our bikes, not to mention high dollar billet parts!! I USED to use it too, but now Im back to spending a couple bucks more for the "suzuki bike wash". It actually does a better job too. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 OH YEAH! I Experienced this first hand when I started my billet aluminum Banshee parts company. I "rough" polished a bunch of parts, then cleaned the buffing residue off with Simple Green. Then I final polished them, cleaned all the residue off again with Simple Green, and then sat them on my bench because I was going to wrap them up in the morning. I come into the shop in the morning, and all of my parts have this brown shit looking oxide on them. I had to rebuff every single part, and since then I only use Simple Green on stuff that I don't need to be polished. Its an excellent cleaner, its just a too alkaline for aluminum. Quote
fixitrod Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Great info.... I use simple green all the time. I don't have billet so I didn't notice. Thanks !!!!!!!!! Quote
