Honestly, you sound like someone trying to scam/push off a bad part. In this case a potentially bad engine.  You should probably take that last offer because i doubt you'll get another here.  Quite a few members here have been around the block a time or two.

I'm not taking sides or anything... I don't know the guy. But my grandmothers Buick "hydrolocked" a few years back with 35,000 miles on it. plastic intake let water in the top but it never got past the rings. Never got water in the oil. Nothing in the bottom end bent. The dealership replaced the intake and that's all. Some people get lucky ya know... :-) that's never the case with me! At least some folks do.

In the Buicks case, technically it never locked. That's just what the guy at the dealership called it. The broken intake allowed for some pressure relief and grandma never ripped it through town turning a bazillion rpms. :-) I DON'T THINK! It got a little warm as she pulled into her driveway. She called me to come look at it. When I went to start it, the starter seemed to drag. Oil and coolant looked fine. I had the dealership pick it up on a rollback the next day. I told them I thought the starter was out but they told me different. I'm sure the window of time is much smaller, between a Banshee & a Buick, before catastrophic damage occurs.

Dude. STFU about that whores Buick. That has nothing to do with this motor. Have a nice day.
