fuel / air screw

stock carbs with stock motor with pro circuit pipes k& N pods V-4 reeds billet intake and fuel / air screw was at 1/2 turn out, I turned it to one full turn and it will start still with one kick but at 1.5 turns it will not start well at all.

Does the screws have anything to do with how the motor runs other then starting and idle  ? and being at 1/2 - 1 turn out is this ok or does it look like I need bigger pilots ?

Anything less than 1/2 turn out would suggest a larger pilot.

Thanks, so even at one turn out does that lean the bike out ?

Leaner than 1/2 turn.....Pilots and air screws feed fuel throughout the entire throttle range but are overrun by the fuel supplied by the needle and main at more than about 1/4 throttle. If tha makes sense.

Rich-in, Lean-out. May want to start around 1 to 1.5 turns out and get it to idle by tweaking the air screw and idle screws back and forth until you find a good idle and good throttle response out of the hole. I had pc pipes and mine had good throttle response at 1 turn out, but everyones bike is different. Check your pilots and make sure they are absolutely clean. If they are patially clogged it will have a high lean idle.
