BansheeBrian Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 My big sunday ride is on this one. Has anyone had this happen. The rear bearings have just been changed and when i tighten up the axl nut even the slightest the axl is tough as hell to turn. When i back it off the axl spins like it should.I cant leave the nut loose because there will be play in my disc and sprocket.Could it be that my bearings are not seated all the way? The seal is screwing up something? Quote
it's stolen Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 both banshees i rebuilt this summer did the same thing. there are 2 different sizes of axle seals, make sure the one with larger hole is on the chain side, make sure the bearings are seated. if it is still tight ride it around a little, mine loosened up in about 5 min. Cotton eyed Joe Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 Also, make sure you put your bearing spacer back in. With out it, the pre load on your inner races will be enormous, and your bearings will last 30 seconds. Quote
BansheeBrian Posted October 18, 2003 Author Report Posted October 18, 2003 Problem solved. With luck i had the seals correct. The sprocket side seal was not seated completely. So i banged it in gently and all is well. Bring on Sunday! Quote
