04zSpittinKlotz Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 just a guess.... that cyl blew!!! compression test it 1 Quote
AlkyHogBanshee Posted November 6, 2012 Author Report Posted November 6, 2012 Ok... if so thn wut should I do?? And where would the metal shavings come from?? New to repairs, trying to get a Lil understanding ... Quote
04zSpittinKlotz Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 the shavings could come from anything in there piston, rings, ect... do a compression test on both cylinders, then a leak down. and most likely your motor will fail one or both, then tear down and inspect everything. either get yourself a clymers or start doing a bunch of research on here. you'll get it figured out Quote
BUILDER Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 No reason to do any testing. If you have shaving in the reeds you need to pull the cylinders off. The only way you get shavings in there is from loosing a piston. Pull the head and the cylinders off and take a look at things, If you want you can take a compression test you can the side with the shavings will be way low on compression. Quote
AlkyHogBanshee Posted November 6, 2012 Author Report Posted November 6, 2012 Whn I pulled the reeds... I can wiggle the right piston wit my finger and can see scratches on the sides... Quote
Finch Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 when you bought this did you have any exp. with alky? and ya better tear down the bottom to and get all the metal out of the motor before you put it back together Quote
troyzstang Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 Sounds like KABOOM to me. Pull the top and take a look. Do yourself a favor and tear it all the way down. DO NOT simply flush the motor. DO IT RIGHT the first time. Please don't ask me how I know. Troy Quote
Starwriter Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 If you pull the spark plug and it's smashed, that's bad. If you pull the right pipe and you can see the connecting rod, that's bad. If you shake out the pipe and pieces of piston fall out, that's bad. Quote
AlkyHogBanshee Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 New to ally and I plan on tearing it all down... plugs are new... 4 or 5 rides on them... still look new... thought maybe it was Jus a wrist pin broke... will find out shortly Quote
