Here's the deal, I tore down my engine tonight that I have been drag racing for two years. Time to go bigger, a 4 mil. Much to my suprise I didn't find a single clip on any of the crank bearings and this is puzzling me. I know hotrods have o-rings on inner bearings and that the tz bearing I bought from crank works is o-ringed for the clutch side. I have a maxload 11 ball installed on the stator side so no line up pin. My question is do I have to use a clip or can I just use o-rings all the way across. I would not have even questioned it had I not found my engine to have no clips. Do the cases clamp the bearings tight enough to hold them and that is why it worked in my old engine? I know nothing about the old engine, it was in the shee when I bought it. Any help would be very appreciated. If I have to have the clips does anyone have some they would sell me?

to my knowledge those clips are a must! i wouldnt even think about puting 2gether a motor without them. if ur goin 4mil i wud suggest getting the FULL c clips from jeff at fast. Its a larger clip that secures the bearing alot better than the half clip. Idk how ur old motor survived so lng without them, lol.

Thankxs for the info. Question, if you clip a tz bearing it will limit movement toward the clutch but could still move toward the stator, right?
