rcourtnier
Rebuilt my banshee after 5 years of sitting. New top end, Chariot head, dune porting, CPI pipes, reeds and stock carbs with K&N air pods. Went to Oregon Coast ran good with one little flat spot at 1/4 throttle. When i got back home i change pilot from 27.5 to a 25 and adjusted needles up 1 notch from stock. i am running a 310 main jet set up for sand mountain 4500'. My problem is it won't idle now and is running really rich. i have adjusted air screws to 3 turns out, idle screws all the way in, ran needles all the way to top notch, manually adjusted slides up with no air filters and this is the only way with push start to get it running and idle. Plugs are still wet. HELP! 32:1 fuel mix Thanks for the help in advance
Finch
put needle middle clip air screw 1.5 turns out from all the way in and turn your idle down till it just barely lifts the slides. give that a try
rcourtnier
Thanks. I tried this prior to moving needles up anymore. Put all settings back to stock no change. Did a leak down test just to see if there any leaks, held 6lbs. for 20 minutes. Compression seems low 135-140 with 17cc domes, checked pistons and jugs everything looks good. Completely cleaned carbs again?? Could it be Electrical, timing etc.??? Carb float needles not seating??? Seems like i can't get it to lean out with anything i do. dave5.0
Flat spot right off idle? Sure it's not lean instead of rich? Elevation is up there but I wouldn't think you'd be way rich with those pipes, porting, and filters. I'd step up a size on the pilots to like 29 or whatever next size is. Have you already tried that? Does it leak fuel out the overflows while it's sitting? If not I would think your needle and seat are ok. No leaking of fuel while it's just sitting there.
