lms1977 Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 try to put some grease on the threads and see if it gets better that would tell ya if it has something to do with threads Quote
bansheeboie Posted September 26, 2012 Author Report Posted September 26, 2012 i put sum grease around the plug threads and lost 1psi in 17 minutes. does that mean my dome threads r messed up? Quote
Paulie B Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 If they are new plugs then I've been there done that. You have to compress the washer they come with. This sometimes gives your hand a false reading cause you think they are tight. Keep tightening them down until it gets really hard, or like Zillafreak said.... Quote
lms1977 Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 1 lb in 17 min sounds good to me Quote
Paulie B Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 1 lb in 17 min sounds good to me ^Agreed. Totally acceptable, I've ran worse with zero problems. Quote
old put-put Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 i just put together a 4mil drag motor and did a leakdown test and noticed that it was leaking around the plugs, i swapped out plugs thinking it might of been those but it wasnt. also has brand new oring kit installed. so what else kud it be?? the dome threads maybe? I use anti seize on threads( aluminumto steele might strip if it gets corroded or galds a little) and torque to 14 ft lbs. 14 is the proper torque on the spark plugs. Quote
