I wouldn't even bother with factory fronts. They are the worst things ever. You should look into a cheap after market set like works. I got my works triple rates for 180. Made the biggest difference in the world. I can't wait till I can afford suspension that has been set up for me and the way I ride

I would not put stockers back on if it were me. Id save and spend some money on some works or elkas. Works are obliviously the cheapest aftermarket shock, but work decently i think. I have works on my bike. Theyre tons better than stock.

Id get whatever you can afford......if you can afford elkas get em. You never see anyone selling their elka shocks to get Works shocks right?

the bike is stock brand new i want to keep it that way so can the factory shock be took apart

The spring can be removed, but the shock cannot be taken apart. They are non serviceable. I the shock is binding through the travel, it's possibly bent. He's the catch though. If the shock is bent, what happened to it that caused it to bend? Odds are if your shock shaft is bent, something else is bent. I VERY RARELY see a shock come in that is bent to the point of binding, without of significant damage elsewhere on the bike.

If you have a small body spring compressor, that's your best bet to remove the spring. 99% of people don't have one, though. Honestly, your best bet is to find someone on here with a mint set of OEM shocks... odds are good that you'll find someone who will practically give them away. They're not worth anything... literally, nothing.

Hate to hijack a thread but got a question.

I like spinning and going sideways on the trails. What would be the best suspension for me?

you could get a set of works (new or used) and get the springs powder coated yellow to match the stockers to keep the colour scheme u like- wouldnt cost relatively too much.

even tho u said you want to keep the stockers u have to wonder why nobody has (or prob ever will) recommend that u should replace it with a new stocker. go aftermarket- the increase in performance will outweigh the compromise in the 'looks' that ur happy with.

i didnt think my new Ohlins (yellowy orange) would suit my stock blue 2001 with toomey pipes- i loved the look of the oem white shocks- now looks damm mean now ive done the upgrade

Mattscss talks alot sence. I mean don't you have RC cars? They all do that after a big jump lol. It's pretty much always from a bent shock shaft. Throw it in the trash and buy another. I don't have clue on how to get the spring off. Your best bet is to watch Ebay for the best looking set. Don't buy from MInkia38.
