He didn't know any better not having any experience with a YZ400. He's a friend and this was years ago all has been forgivin. A lil background on the motor is the intake on the jug has no bridge- it just a huge gaping hole. In hind site it would have been better to have cut 2 windows in the piston leaving a bridge for strength. I'm also to blame because I was running it on meth so rich it was probably washing down the oil hence the extreme scaring on the intake side. Live and learn I guess.
