I know this question has many variables, but I'm running the same reeds for years now! They appear to be in good condition!

Nothing has changed as far as my setup goes, my mid range got lazy out of nowhere and my bike was spitting a lot of shit from the exhaust!

I pulled everything apart bc my shifting forks needed to be replaced anyways!!

Flywheel and stator are good- So I'm wondering if the reeds could be just worn out and causing these problems- I mean it's a simple swap but I'm curious on what everyone thinks!!

On bigger engines with non Banshee based reeds, they sometimes don't last very long. On Cubs, though, I've ran the same for years. It is hard to tell if they are wore out sometimes. There will be just a bit of fraying at the ends of the petals. From the symptoms of your engine, it sounds like that bad reeds may be a possibility.

Look for a LARGE gap or frayed/chipped ends.

I had the same set of reeds for over 6 years... One year on gas, all the rest on alky. Good chance they're 8 years old now...I doubt Chris had to change them.

Typically they hold up pretty well for us. All of our 1/4 mile asphalt bikes as well as my sons last 2 motors (1 Serval) run V-2's. I've never had an issue with a screw coming out but because of that possiblity with the 2's the only time I've changed the petals is if I find frayed or chipped ends. The last set I replaced was just a few weeks ago and those were new in July 2008.
