Hey everyone. for some reason i cant seem to get the search feature to work on this site. I have trie searching but anything i type in, it keeps telling me there are no results. lol

Anyway...

Im trying to find what the piston ring gaps should be for stock bore. What i have found is to take the stock bore and multiply it by .004. But i found this from a post that a guy had 66.5mm pistons. just want to make sure this is the same for stock pistons.

also, should both rings have the same gap?? or should the 2nd ring be a little larger?

from what i can see i should have a gap of .010-.012" Just want to make sure its for both rings.

Also, what is the torque spec for the head bolts??

THanks guys.

you can run both rings the same gap. yes the rule is .003-.004" per inch of bore. some rings you get are larger, so you can just run them, or keep buying rings till you get a tight enough ring gap. (sometimes they come too tight as well and you have to file to size)

some run the bottom ring a touch larger. but both the same is fine.

you talking about wiseco rings or some other brand ? wiseco is usually minimum .004 per inch of bore, atleast thats what the instructions said on mine but maybe yours are different. that adds up to minimum .0145 on my bore, the gap was actually about .021 which was fine considering its a modified engine. ring gap typically has a wide window of acceptable clearance, just dont run them too tight or youll have a bad day real fast

no these are for stock rings. OEM yamaha rings.

yea im gonna run them at .011" its 100% stock banshee.

When i checked the old rings, the gap was HUGE. it was about .34" yea about a 3rd of an inch.

So thanks everyone.
