Larry's Shee Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Only problem I see now is that you have to paint the frame to match the beauty of the arms Quote
eldreder Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Haha everyone has said I need to get the frame powdercoated. I want to, but at this point I don't want to miss any more ride time. And I really don't wanna spend another 500 dollars, we'll just call it the rat rod for now haha Edited April 28, 2012 by eldreder Quote
eldreder Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 Oh boy. More issues are my favorite. I got the front suspension most of the way together except the new calipers that I got are completely different and don't appear to bolt up. Does anyone know if the style of the calipers was changed at all after 87? So then I decided to get the swing arm taken off, that went decent, until i got the tube out of the swing arm and I can't even begin to think of what could have caused this Is anyone else as amazed by this as me? And could I smooth it out with a file or should I just buy a new one? Quote
Zwiser Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Buy a new one, Most of the time they will come in the bearing kits. yours isnt as bad as mine was Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Jarm spindles are different as are cali and pads Quote
eldreder Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 Awesome. Theres another 50 dollars then haha i guess I'll go ahead and order new brake pads then Quote
87sheerips Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 Yeo 87-89 (I believe) have different spindles, different calipers etc. They are on Ebay. I have brand new front rotors if you need, that come with stainless hardware. Quote
eldreder Posted May 3, 2012 Author Report Posted May 3, 2012 This might sound stupid. But how do you go about doing the front end alignment ? I understand how to line it up and what not, but I can't think of any easy ways of unscrewing the ball joints from the arm without taking the whole thing back apart. Any help there would be appreciated Quote
JA66 Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 Just finger tighten the ball joints until you are happy with how they are adjusted, then tighten to spec. If they are just finger tightened, they will still come back apart, and be close enough to make adjustments. Quote
eldreder Posted May 4, 2012 Author Report Posted May 4, 2012 Just a couple things left now. Bleeding brakes and what not Quote
