Buffalo-Banshee Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I tried searching for some help but im baffled on this banshee issue! so i picked up a 96 banshee for 600 bucks that did not run. The bike has spark 120psi in both cylinders and is bone stock! i rebuilt both carbs disconected thetors and doubble checked everthing. The bike will only start being towed or with a splash of gas but will not stay running what could be the prolbem ? BTW i also have a stock 99 banshee that runs like a top that i rebuilt with help from this forum. should i try to swap the carbs out between the two to see if that helps ? im running out of beer and patience thanks for any help! erickson483 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Does it have the TORS still? If so ditch that Quote
Buffalo-Banshee Posted April 19, 2012 Author Report Posted April 19, 2012 Yes it does! What is the proper adjustment for the dials on the top of the tors boxes? the air fuel adjustment is two turns out. Quote
erickson483 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I personally don't know. But you'd be best off going to rockymountanatv and picking up a throttle cable with TORS eliminator for like $50 Quote
Yamahopper10 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 This may sound dumb, but make sure the little hose is in place that connects the two carbs. Quote
Yamahopper10 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 also, sounds like your pilot jet(s) is clogged Quote
LowlyOilBurner Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Yes, the plugs are "wet" and you can smell fuel at the tail pipes. Bike has very strong spark. Just won't start/stay running. Me and buffalo-banshee have verified this. We have swapped known "good" plugs and still, no dice. Prior to this, the machine would start and run with the choke out, relatively well. Now, nothing. Something has to be screwed with the carb(s).? Quote
wfobasheeboy Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Check if the choke tube that goes from carb to carb is in place. Did you guy check the carb if they are sync? Also did you guys mix up the float bowls? There is a Left one & Right one the left one has the little tube in it. IF this all check out then disconnect the tors box under the left side of the gas tank and see if that works. good luck & keep us posted. Quote
toytech Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 (edited) make sure the slides ar in the correct way to Edited April 19, 2012 by toytech Quote
LowlyOilBurner Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Everything mentioned so far has been attempted. I guess we could swap in known working carbs and see if that works. Any other ideas, lol? Quote
LowlyOilBurner Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Bike also has a backfire from the left (choke side cylinder). It's back firing out of the tailpipe. When it was running, this backfire would go away with the choke out. Quote
feelsoright03 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 You have the slides in the wrong carbs. Had this happen the other day on my banshee I put together. The angle on the bottom of the slide is supposed to face the intake. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Cutaways face air filter, could also be bad reeds. Quote
