Yaaaa. Don't do that. Buy some real chain oil. WD 40 degrades rubber over time, which could wear your O Rings even faster.

 

I thinks that's bull... I've had my chain for 5 years (since I bought bike new) and all I do is wd before I ride, and after wash. Never any probs! wd doesn't degrade anything, people spray it on everything. Hell, if u want shiney...it works better than any tire shine. Coat all plastic and rubber with it, and wipe off excess. And it'll keep shit from rusting.

I got 5 plus years out of my last oring chain and the WD40 thing worked fine for me also. I didnt do it that often either. 100% sand riding in Glamis. I just replaced my chain with a DID xring chain for the hell of it.

I'm on the WD-40 side of the fence , I spray my chain with it at the beginning of the riding day and at the end of the day . Never once had a problem .
