HolySheet Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Alrighty, 01, bought it as a basket case and it won't kickstart, only pull start. Stock carbs(choke tube is missing), T5s, .030 over(Wiesco Pro Lites), Welded and Trued HotRods Crank, VForce 3s. I am thinking the choke tube is the issue, but I haven't checked the compression yet. If there are any other suggestions though I would love to hear them. Also has a nasty high idle, I almost think that it is sucking air somewhere but I haven't checked! A little background though, bought it in a bunch of boxes cause the previous owner realized that it wouldn't shift, he had no idea what he was looking at or for though. So I bought it and found the rod and ball were welded to the main axle, so I replaced the main axle, ball, rod, and lever. Pulled the jug, pistons, and rings, cleaned them all up cause someone ran it rich and scored them, but it runs great other than the high idle and the starting issue. Sorry for the long post, but I am trying to be thorough. Thanks in advance everyone.(Will get pics up soon, although it's nothing special to look at.) Quote
Dicklez Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Man, pull start would be cool. Check your compression. Quote
HolySheet Posted April 16, 2012 Author Report Posted April 16, 2012 I'll test the compression tomorrow hopefully, and I will post up my results. If I remember from years ago when I had one, throttle wide open, adapter should be close to the same length as plug threads to be accurate? Quote

HolySheet Posted April 16, 2012 Author Report Posted April 16, 2012 Sweet. So far my planned upgrades are: Trinity Adjustable timing plate, Dynatek Ignition, and rejetting because I feel like a 320 main is a little too big, and the pilot is too big as well. It has a small stutter from low end and I think it's the jets. Quote
Dicklez Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 Dont stop kicking untill the gauge stops moving. I personally wouldnt waste the money on an aftermarket igniton. Stock cdi is good for most applications. Quote

Jereme6655 Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 it wont start because you dont have your choke tube in place. go get some tubing and connect those carbs. the tube acts almost like a vacuum advance system.......so when you pull the choke knob out on the left carb it uses vacuum to enable the choke on the other carb.
