dunable overide problem

i bought this overide used and it doesnt seem to be going into 5th gear.. anyone want to help me figure out whats wrong or what i need to do to fix it?

i was told that what im calling 6th is actually 5th but i guess the shift drum is cut wrong and goin to 6th and not 5th??

If you're not using 6th gear, the 6th gear pin needs to be cut off the shift star, so that it can't try to go into 6th that is not there. Don't know what to tell you beyond that.

yes it is removed. i notice that it does move towards fifth i think i need a modified shift fork

just put it together. i have had overrides not work right sitting in the cases and and work flawlessly once together.

had the shift forks mixed up.

so the shaft with 2 forks has the same style forks and the shaft with only one fork is the oddball ?

Then why does it continue to move the shift fork each time you shift it at the end? After you're in 5th, the shift shaft pawl should gleefully hook on nothing each time you shift it, right?

because i was turning the shift star by hand. not with the shifter.

On a stock trans, the right rear and front fork are #1 and the left rear fork is a #2.

What style of override is it? 1-5 n down, 2-5, etc?

it is .. 1 n 2-5 got it all fixed up i think
