erickson483 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I'm in the process of building and restoring my first banshee. It's mostly going to be on trails, some back roads and hopefully the occasional dune trip. Just wondering what would be a good gearing ratio for my needs. I'm running SST's, no lid with pod and outerwear, boysen reeds, .080" over with a slight port. Nothing serious but not bone stock. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Stock (14/41) is a pretty good all around ratio. If you want a little more top speed, you can fine tune by dropping the rear sprocket down a tooth or two.. Here are some things to remember.. 1. 1 tooth up front = 3 teeth in the rear 2. Going up in the front gives you a higher top speed. 3. Going down in the front will lower your top speed. 4. Going up in the rear gives you a lower top speed. 5. Going down in the rear gives you a high top speed. Make big changes with the front and fine tune with the rear. Quote
mike0chek Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 all depends what you want more, top speed or more low end. its nice to have a few different sprockets kicking around so you can try a few and see what you like best. Quote
