I'm in the process of building and restoring my first banshee. It's mostly going to be on trails, some back roads and hopefully the occasional dune trip. Just wondering what would be a good gearing ratio for my needs. I'm running SST's, no lid with pod and outerwear, boysen reeds, .080" over with a slight port. Nothing serious but not bone stock.

Stock (14/41) is a pretty good all around ratio. If you want a little more top speed, you can fine tune by dropping the rear sprocket down a tooth or two..

Here are some things to remember..

1. 1 tooth up front = 3 teeth in the rear

2. Going up in the front gives you a higher top speed.

3. Going down in the front will lower your top speed.

4. Going up in the rear gives you a lower top speed.

5. Going down in the rear gives you a high top speed.

Make big changes with the front and fine tune with the rear.
