volvo63' Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) Ok guys, I just bought my banshee and its the second two stroke that Ive ever owned. I got one good ride out of it and then it blew up. Well we put it back together and on the third break in run it started running on one cylinder. We took it back apart for another rebore and found that an o ring had been wadded up in one of the oiler ports. After all orings were accounted for I found that it had to be from the crank. I had just put a brand new hot rods in it the first rebuild, but it baffled me that it used orings to keep the bearings from spinning instead of the press fit pins. I found that the bearing on cluth side of the crank had spun and shoved the oring up through the oiler port. Now there is no scaring or anything on the case, but with a new o ring the bearing in fairly loose in the case or spins kind of freely. What do I do? Edited February 26, 2012 by volvo63' Quote

I've had about 10 different banshees in the last 6 or 7 years and almost all of them used the o-rings on the crank bearings and I never had a problem with any of them. Try and find another set of cases you can try out, or send your crank and cases to a builder and have them check the tolerances if you don't know how or have the tools. Kevin @ HJR can do this for you. He does good work & won't steer you wrong. Thanks - Jared Quote
volvo63' Posted February 29, 2012 Author Report Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) When you say try/get new cases, would it be possible instead to just get the cases trenched in the outer bearing areas and get the 72mm big bearings (Newb, don't know if the cases could take being trenched out there.). I ask because when the o-ring came off it got in a bearing so I need to get some new ones anyway. So I was just going t replace all of them with tz or maxload.
