I remember smthn about elk migration or some crap too. I grew up at Glamis, got used to riding in the "cold" months, then moved here and it's the opposite! Kinda lame, but have gotten used to it. Ive gone before Memorial day before, first couple weeks of May, and there were A LOT of snow drifts, I'd be ridin along, point the front end towards a dune to go up, and would go IN to the dune because snow drifts were covered by sand, so they looked like all the other dunes, it was a real pain in the ass, about went over the handlebars a few times. So my buddies and I just decided to mark Memorial day as the beginning of the dune season. I haven't heard anything about the elk migration there, to be honest, never even seen any elk there, seen a few deer and a couple of moose though. Quote
dave5.0 Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 Elk thing must be a winter deal. I've heard that about the snow. That would suck ass. What kind of registration do you have to ride out there? Quote

What kind of registration do you have to ride out there? Im actually not sure, I have a "forever plate" from when I lived in Arizona, and have never bothered registering it here in Idaho. Never been hassled by the po-po. Just don't give them a reason to bother you and they leave you alone. Usually I end up over at the Store where the cops are all camped at and bullshit with them, last time they gave us a BUNCH of firewood, we were talkin about headin into Rexburg for food and wood, and they said "fuck that, you see that stack over there? Take as much as you need" It was pretty bad ass. Never had any problems with them, just DON'T have any GLASS Containers, big ass fine if you are found with them. Anyways, I think my buddies just have a ORV sticker, and one has a plate, but I believe thats so he can ride on County roads AND off road. I know you can just go into Snake River and Register/re-register bikes there. Or go to the DMV, but they are always packed. I'm sure they can give you a more definitive answer. Quote
dave5.0 Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 Ya that's pretty well what I figured. I've heard several different stories from locals. I'm got an offload sticker for my 450 just by walkin in and buyin it. Now everybody wants titles and bills of sale to prove proof of ownership. What a pita for a guy just movin. Quote

Yeah when I registered my RM250 just for the regular ORV sticker, I took the bill of sale in, didn't have a title. Im not positive if there is anything else required to ride in the dunes, but I wouldn't think so. I've never heard anything about special permits or anything like that. Quote
dave5.0 Posted February 15, 2012 Author Report Posted February 15, 2012 So where do you ride this time of year? Quote
