SheemanJones Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Hi guys. I am new to this Forum but not new to bikes. I recently (finally) got a banshee. It had some aftermarket carbs on it that were kinda janky so I swapped them for some rebuilt stockers with the TORS boxes on them. After swapping the carbs the bike wont start. My dad and I have gone thru the entire harness (harness, cdi box swap, kill switch, and key) after doing some research I am leaning toward the TORS. My main question is, if the previous owner did a TORS delete to run different carbs, and i put stock carbs with TORS on them back in the bike what needs to be done to make sure the TORS isnt blocking spark. ALSO, If the stator is bad would it spark so solid that it actually sizzled some oil sitting on top of the head? It was a serious zap. I realize the stator is made up of two different parts (one for lights, one for ignition). I really appreciate any help. I look forward to throwing some sand w my new Banshee. Quote
SheemanJones Posted February 8, 2012 Author Report Posted February 8, 2012 It was only one good zap tho, then it wouldnt spark anymore. It has done this a couple times during testing. Is this a symptom of TORS? Quote
Surfrjag Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 if you didnt hook the wires up for the tors then this is likely not your problem. go ahead and unhook the tors and then you know its not the problem. does yours have a parking brake safty switch? what is your pickup gap? is your stator and cdi oem? check the orange wire going to the coil and make sure it has a good connection, and while your at it check your grounds.
