remi_357 Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 hello everyone, my 2000 banshee has started leaking oil out of the clutch vent. It is not leaking out of the tube, however it is leaking between the nipple and the engine case. Is there a bad o ring? Im new to banshee's and have never taken one out. Would a block off plate be the best solution for fixing this? thanks Quote

J.J. Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 or you can get the OEM breather from FAST at $11.5 http://farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=210 Quote
remi_357 Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 probaly a dumb question but I read that I have to remove the clutch cover to fix this, can I just use rtv black gasket maker for a new gasket? Quote
J.J. Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 yep, unfortunately it installs from inside the cover. If you are careful you might be able to remove the cover without damaging the gasket. I've used the same gasket many times over, just be sure to grease up the gasket prior to installing. Personally I wouldn't use RTV instead of a gasket, worth a try though... Quote
escobar Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 you can re use the gasket most of the time, put some rtv on it as well and it will be fine. If the gasket is in bad shape I would just replace it too, its $10. Im running 10w-50 oil and it doesnt leak haha. Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 You don't need that vent at all. Almost all aftermarket clutch covers have it removed. I solder it shut on all the covers I have. You can get by just fine with the rear vent. - Jared Quote
sheerider11 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Your running motor oil in your trans? 1 Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Your running motor oil in your trans? No, I only run ATF in my bikes. Oil sucks wang. Quote
remi_357 Posted January 1, 2012 Author Report Posted January 1, 2012 i just bought the quad so i have no idea what in it now. I went ahead and bought the $8 block off from ebay and im going to switch it to atf type f. thanks for the help everyone Quote
remi_357 Posted January 1, 2012 Author Report Posted January 1, 2012 also i figured it was a bad idea to be cheap on the gasket. Figured I had to wait on the block off to get here, so i ordered a gasket the same day Quote
