Im building a flattracker and i need a new clutch basket. ive heard mixed opinions , but you guys know these shee's better than me lol. Mines got the basic mods , pipes, filter, and mild overboar, not sure what port/ previous work done before i got it. Is it worth the money for the aftermarket, or should i stay with stock ? Thanks.

if your tearing into it... and your current one is starting to get grooves get a billet one.

The site sponsors offer a good billet one thats not that expensive. and just as solid as hinsons and so on from what ive heard

My stocker looks like JAWS got a hold of it. . I just got this quad ,so i have to go through it and fix everything. It was actually letting second gear slip / then it would slam in and engage again. The previous owner said it needed a shift fork ,but i think it was the basket. The clutch couldnt move so it was slipping/ agreed ? Wich site sponsor has those baskets ?

There is nothing wrong with a stock basket. However, a billet one will last a lot longer.

That being said, I get all my clutch parts from FAST. He put a Magnum basket on my drag bike and, so far, it is holding up very nicely.

Jeff (FAST) is a good guy give him a call. He carries the magnum baskets. I have had great luck with them. I have them on 2 bikes and they seem to be doing just fine after a couple years. While you are in there you may want to inspect/replace any worn shifiting or clutch components, now is the time to do it. Talk to jeff, but basically a moded shift star and shift shaft and possibly the eccentric stud along with a pancake bearing for the clutch and a billet water pump impellar would all be good insurance.

i would say buy the mattoon.. its a great price its a 8 plate if you want to do that. the backing plate is cromoly and thicker than most any other basket the bolts are 5/16 instead of lil bitty and the cusions are hard as hell.

stock baskets suck. the backing plates and rivets are the only thing good about them. the cusions blow out and the fingers break in anything over 60 hp. in a TT situation i would HIGHLY recomend a basket.
