Flywheel rubbing stator pick up

I just bought a new stator for my banshee. And its wider than a stock stator, but should the flywheel magnets have contact with the Pickup coil magnet? This is when I put my stator cover on.

Definitely not. You will have to re-set your pickup gap. You can loose the bolts on the pickup, and using either a feeler gauges .020", or a 16pt business card set the gap, then tighten her down.

I have did that and it still rubs. Do I have the wrong Stator?

Ok I figured it out thanks guys.

The flywheel can be high keyed. This means the crank key moved when you put the fly wheel back on & make the fly wheel off center & rub the coil pick up in spots.

What was wrong that the fly wheel was rubbing stator.  I'm replacing mine at the moment and when ya go to torque the flywheel it rubs against the stator and don't turn over.  Please help
