sstaton1983 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) banshee is a 89 with pwk 28s. using the kicker it will spark every once and a while with spark plugs removed.but you can push start it.once it starts it will not idle.i tried a coil and new stator and no diff. i have completely pulled the harness apart and checked it.i ohmed from the stator wires to cdi.orange coil wire to cdi and checked grounds. could the cdi cause weak spark? the bike is a friend of mine's and the harness was butchered i spent about 3 hours soldering and putting on shrink boot. EZ2FLEE Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 I just worked on a bike like this, turns out it was the flywheel Quote
sstaton1983 Posted September 10, 2011 Author Report Posted September 10, 2011 maybe weak magnet, because my banshee flywheel seemed to have a stronger magnet. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 does the bike have TORS on it? Quote
bansheesandrider Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 I had this same problem with my 89 three years ago. It turned out to be the CDI box that I had put on from Rick's Electrics. The bike would not start cold without towing it but it would kickstart as long as it was warm, but after a long day at SandLake it would not even start by towing it when hot. I put a stock CDI back on it and it started right up. I had put the Rick's box on it when I was at St. Anthonys because that was all I could get when we were there, and it had less than 20 hours of ride time on it in 3 months. Quote
