rodneym Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Well I done my first compression test. I bought my 99 shee from an older man who was the original owner. The compression showed just over 100 on the autozone special comp tester. I guess I will take it apart tomorrow(first time) and have my cylinders checked. Im sure they are fine and I can get probably get by with a new set of rings and gaskets. Where is a good place to buy the parts?? And shoud I just buy new pistons?? LMK what you guys think I am gonna tear into it tomorrow. Quote

Have your cylinders checked for roundess, see if you can get away with a hone.If i just needed rings and hone,i would buy the parts wherever,rmatv/wiseco ect. If you need to bore: I use WSM pistons from ebay, last set i bought was .020 over coated for 120 bucks. I have used them in all my bikes and have never had problems! rodneym Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Posted July 31, 2011 Yea i did. I need to get someone to check the cylinders for me. I guess I will take it apart in the a.m. Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 The most important thing about getting them checked is taking it to someone with the right mics to test it. Meaning if you hand it to someone and they only check with with a slide type mic caliper, like an autozone one, then they arent doing it right. Its best to take it to a machinist Quote
BansheeBoy347 Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 X2 on the WSM Pistons if you do have to rebuild I highly recommend. Here is the ones I went with and I think they are better than Wiseco. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Banshee-WSM-ATV-Forged-Piston-Pair-Bore-64-5-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c4beacfffQQitemZ190252240895QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Quote
