T_Shee Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 when you put the bike in gear it popped into gear? could you explain that a little better please Quote
AKheathen Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 well, lots could have happened..... did someone dink around with the cable adjustment? clutch pack stuck for sitting?something happen towing it back? who knows yet. just have to start by checking for free-play and such.... and for a welded ball from holding the clutch too long Quote
pweezy42 Posted July 25, 2011 Author Report Posted July 25, 2011 when you put the bike in gear it popped into gear? could you explain that a little better please ok so i had the bike idleing pulled the clutch in and put it in first and it was in gear, the clutch didnt stop it. AK i never got towed back i rode the bike back when the bearing went in the carrier. and the clutch was working prior to me replaceing the carrier because i was moving the banshee around. i am gonna pull it apart this weekend but just wanted to see if this happened to anyone so i know what to look for or if there was an easier fix. Jereme6655 Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 ok so i had the bike idleing pulled the clutch in and put it in first and it was in gear, the clutch didnt stop it. ok....officially confused again. What "should have stopped it?" when the bike is idling and you pull the clutch in and put the trans in first......as long as your holding the clutch in the bike SHOULD NOT STOP and should keep idling..... Larry's Shee Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 How long was it sitting? Have you driven it around and it still does it? Quote
pweezy42 Posted July 26, 2011 Author Report Posted July 26, 2011 what are you confused about the clutch will not keep the bike idleing when in gear. say i want to start the bike in gear i pull in the clutch and the bike will try and roll forward as i kick it. and larry bike sat about 2-3 weeeks Quote
AKheathen Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 slack the cable and see how much free-play you have in the lever on the case. i'm not sure what it could be, since you said you drove it around and it worked right before replacing the carrier... did the cable come of the clip/groove on the case? Larry's Shee Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Plates might just be stuck from sitting. Also go completely back through the adjustment procedure. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 pweezy.... okay i got it now.....your clutch is not disengaging. did you pull the frictions out? did you soak them for a while? im wondering if they shrank do to lack of fluid from sitting and it got adjusted before the fluid got back into them and swelled them slightly. How bad is it dragging on the clutch? it is normal if your bikes been sitting for 2-3 weeks for it to slightly lurch forward while holding the clutch in and in gear while trying to start it.... Quote
