Hooptiee Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 I just installed a new clutch cable, a billet clutch basket, new clutch plates, and a driveline lockup. My clutch cable is too long by 1/4" - 1/2" the clutch arm is lined up with the case mark. I am using a aftermarket clutch perch not sure of the brand and the longer oem adjuster. The adjuster on the perch is adjusted all the way out and my clutch is working great but there is no room for anymore adjusting if this clutch starts to wear a little or the cable streches any. I matched the new cable up to the one I took off and they are both the same length and were both purchased at Vitos. Any suggestions Quote
toytech Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) is the ball still in there with the pushrod? you can also adjust on the pressure plate Edited July 24, 2011 by toytech Quote
Hooptiee Posted July 24, 2011 Author Report Posted July 24, 2011 is the ball still in there with the pushrod? you can also adjust on the pressure plate The ball is still in there, and I adjusted the clutch arm to the engine mark with the adjustment at the pressure plate. then i took up the slack at the clutch lever and had to run that adjuster all the way out, The clutch is working great there is just no room for wear with the adjuster. I just ordered a pancake bearing from Chariot performance so I will be tearing it down in a couple days to install it. Quote
AKheathen Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 well, start by slacking the cable, and measure the free-play on the arm. between 1/8" and 1/4" is good. more than that, i would adjust the pressure plate to get it in, and less, and you will be re-adjusting the pressure plate pretty soon. then pull the slack up so ther is just a little at the pertch, and it should be close to the case marks anyways Quote
