i just did a top and bottom end rebuild and port and everything was running good, except the clutch was slipping, so i put a new one in with stiffer springs and rode it a while and all was good. but now it won't shift.

 

someone please tell me there might be an easy fix so i dont have to tear it all apart again, however something in the tranny is probably messed up

Take it apart at the clutch. I did my bike a year or two ago and it was pretty simple. I thought my tranny had gone out because it wouldn't shift and had weird cluth pressure. When I pulled the cover and all the stuff out I found the little center clutch adjuster had welded it self together. I bought a pancake style new instead to replace and made sure the ball and rod were not damaged, closed her up and been beating her to the ground ever since.

i put it back on and its still good, i'm not quite sure what happened, it musta just been jammed up, but i gotta wait for a new water pump gasket to try it out, i decided to get the ez drain this time, since this is my 3rd new gasket this month

before you button it up.....you should make sure that you have the excentric screw adjusted correctly on your trans claw. its what grabs the trans and forces it to shift. you must adjust it so that there is the same amount of distance between both sides....

yeah, that's what the guys at fast told me, i think the stud might be worn out, cause it was aligned good, but we'll see what happens

also, look close for signs of rubbing behind the clutch, missing/loose drum/star retainer, binding of the shift shaft on the case. the nub on the case holds the end thrust, and might not clear well without a gasket to space the cover out...... and anything else out of place, or abnormally worn
