I ordered a 104 link oring chain and it is a little too long, isnt 104 link supposed to be the right length for a stock banshee? Also if I have to shorten the chain what is the best way to do it. AKheathen Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 first thing i would do is check the swing-arm bearings at the frame. just thrust the rear grab bar side to side and look for play at the frame. then check your sprocket and sprocket hub for play, wear, and count the teeth. should be 14/41 stock. BansheeDFW Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 May sound like a stupid question, but are your chain guides all in place? I had a buddy have me come over because his chain was loose and he had bypassed the lower tension roller! I use a disc type die grinder and a chain press tool. Quote
Irishchris Posted July 19, 2011 Author Report Posted July 19, 2011 The swing arm bearings are new as well the sprockets. Im in the process of finishing a rebuild on the bike. I dont have a chain roller I dont think. I have a chain guide on the top of the swingarm and a plastic guide the chain goes through that bolts on the bottome of the arm. Do I need a roller, it never had one with the old chain? Quote

donkeypuncher Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 You should have two rollers. Not sure about the top roller but if you don't have the lower roller in place or if the chain is under it, it will seem really loose. Before you take any links out of your chain test fit it with both rollers and both guides in place. Quote

I have the swingarm chain guide and the chain support, do the rollers just bolt on to the frame? The old chain didnt have rollers at all so that is why im confused about it. A picture of it would be awesome if someone has one. Quote
