eldreder Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 I'm doing a full rebuild, and i need to know what would be the best solvent to soak my cases in to disolve some of the grease. i've been thinking either gas or mineral spirits. what else is there? Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 I always use a lil diesel and scrub it in hard then rinse, then some engine de greaser, scrub it in, then pressure wash. Comes clean as a whistle. Quote
Josh Z Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 checker oreily has some shit called Purple power...... it is the shit... we use it in our solvent tank etc and it is just a water based solvent.. it works good. Quote
Deuce Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Purple power cleans great... but be careful... it will etch bare aluminum and can discolor some things. I'd personally go the kerosene/diesel route and de-greaser. Quote
lt500rbigbore Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 varsol and a scrub brush or brake parts cleaner. works great for me Quote
jbooker82 Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Start with a pressure washer / steamer if you can. 200+ deg water cuts grease pretty well. Quote
dirtydownunder Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 degrease the best you can, taking the big chunks off. throw it in the hot parts washer wet bead blast it. clean it again with degreaser. comes out better than new !!!!. Quote
