I have a 2001 banshee new rebuild,.40 over stock ports, I'm using vitos super stock pistons, my carbs have been rebuilt, floats adjusted to book spec, I'm running stock carbs tors removed, I'm running lrd pipes with a toomey two to one air filter, 290 main with 25 pilots. My problem I'm having is, the thing only sparks on the third kick or so, and when its running its only out of one cylinder. There is smoke coming out of both pipes but more on one side than other, the only way it sorta runs like a banshee is wide open. I tried a new coil and it did the same thing, would only spark every few kicks. You can feel when it sparks because it chugs forward. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Dustin

Is your stator retaining water? Sounds like its definitely electrical, bad ground somewhere or something?

I guess I don't see where the possibility of water getting in the gasket is there with all bolts.

Water can get in there where the wire harness exits the stator housing(cases). Whenever I install a stator, I seal the grommet AND the wire harness with RTV.

Anyone

no because you didnt even make an effort to check on the stator and pickup like was mentioned. people wont help you if you just rule out stuff like that. you have to help yourself here. Ive pulled my side cover off and found it full of sand even though its sealed.

I would check the clearance in the pickup coil and the impedance on both sides if the coil. Change plugs and /or check plug gap. If you have a Banshee book it will tell what the ohms should be on stator, pickup coil and coil. If u don't have a book let me know and I'll look it up for you.
